The behavior of fuels and materials in a nuclear reactor irradiation environment is extremely complex, and provides a rich field for scientific investigation.  The ATR NSUF offers access to world-class capabilities to help researchers understand the complex behaviors of these fuels and materials.  Through access to the advanced test reactor and post-irradiation examination facilities at the Idaho National Laboratory researchers can begin to build on current knowledge and advance the state-of-the-art.  However, the ATR NSUF recognized that those facilities could quickly become oversubscribed, and therefore the Partnership Program was instituted to provide a broad avenue for the addition of university research capabilities that are synergistic with the goals of nuclear energy research.

The ATR NSUF is proud to offer users not only the advanced test reactor and post-irradiation examination capabilities of the Idaho National Laboratory, but also of the six current university partners.  As the Partnership Program expands, other university and national laboratory capabilities will become available to users, expanding the opportunities for science and technology.

Please refer to the links under Reactor Facilities, Post Irradiation Examination and Beam Line Facilities to access the Users Guides for each of the capabilities offered.
